Tips to Prepare for a New WordPress Site

Tips to Prepare for a New WordPress Site

Although WordPress was initially created as a platform for bloggers, it has grown into one of the most popular websites for artists, business owners, writers, and more.
Because of its ease of use, affordability, and array of themes and plugins, companies all over the world are turning to WordPress for their professional website needs.
Getting started on your own WordPress website is relatively simple, but the following tips will help you prepare beforehand:

1. Figure out What Layout and Color Scheme You Want:

There are thousands of professionally created themes you can choose from on WordPress. Take to time to pursue as many as you like to get an idea of the type of layout you want your website to have. For color schemes, many businesses will typically choose their store or brand colors, but feel free to also decide on something that’s eye-catching yet appropriate for your industry.

2. Decide What Type of Content You Want on Your Page:

It’s a good idea to decide on the type of content you want on your page beforehand so that you’ll have a description in mind of how you want your website to be.
For example, you’ll probably want to create content on your services, products, business hours, location, and any frequently asked questions. Additionally, however, think about blog topics, industry-relevant tips, and tutorial content that would benefit your website.
3. Decide How Blog Posts Will be Laid Out:
Blogs are an important part of a business website and should be placed prominently so that consumers can easily find it. Once you’ve figured out your layout design, choose a space in the layout that would be ideal for your blog posts.
Some companies choose to place their blog posts on a sidebar (see below for more details) of the main webpage while others place them at the top. Wherever you decide to place your blog posts, make sure that it’s easy for others to access.
4. Decide if You Want a Sidebar:
A sidebar is a unique way to prominently place important information on the left-hand or right-hand side of a website.
As previously mentioned, a sidebar can be used to categorize your blog posts, but it can also be used to put your product information, archives, and photos in order.
In addition, sidebars provide a place for your widgets, such as calendars, social network sharing, and more.

5. Decide Who Will Design Your Site:

WordPress has several different themes to choose from. However, if you need a site customized specifically how you want it, you’ll need to decide on a web designer; preferably a professional who is experienced in WordPress design.

WordPress and Social Media

WordPress and Social Media

With the explosion of social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube, small companies might be wondering if they even need a business website.
Since social media sites offer many of the tools that a website offers, it may seem that social networking has now replaced the traditional business websites; but there are several things that a professional business website can offer that social media cannot.
However, WordPress makes linking social media to your company website easier than any other platform. Not only that, but going forward, your website and social media can work together to help you get more eyes on your business.
Here are some reasons you will always need a company website, in addition to social media:
You Are the Owner
When you create a WordPress website, you become the owner of it. Since WordPress is a content management system (CMS), it will never be sold and you’ll always have your own domain name. Although social media is a powerful way to engage with customers and bring in new business, all of your content placed on a social media site will be associated with the site’s brand.
You Are in Control
On social media sites, users have an array of options, such as games, chats, pictures, and other business pages they can visit. With your own business website, you control everything that happens.
There are no “social” features that distract your visitors, keeping the focus on your products and services. Additionally, readers won’t be bogged down with competitor advertisements.
The Credibility Factor
While social media certainly helps your image via customer engagement and support, nothing can replace the authority that a high-quality, professional website brings.
Having your own professional website and consistently loading it up with quality content can boost your credibility and ultimately drive in new business.
Keep in mind, however, that the best course of action is into incorporate social media into your business website. This way, you will have the best of both worlds.
You’ll be able to identify yourself as true leader in your industry through social engagement, as well as a professional website that accurately represents your brand.

SEO Mistakes

6 SEO Mistakes You Must Avoid

You’ve worked hard to build your website, sales funnel and you are ready to enter the world of SEO for massive traffic. Play your cards right, and you will be rewarded with tons of steady passive traffic from organic searches. Mess it up, you’ll be penalized and slapped by the Almighty Google. That being said, here’s 6 SEO mistakes you must avoid at all costs.

Mistake #1 – Overuse of keywords. I can’t stress the importance of this enough. Having too much keywords sprinkled throughout your site can lead to your site coming off as “spammy” by Google and you will be punished.
Mistake #2 – Link farming. Getting a bunch of low quality back links from other sites only says one thing – Your site is of low quality. Always strive to get high quality back links from authority sites.

Mistake #3 – SEO Software’s – These are the banes of SEO. Google does not approve of any dodgy software that claims to boost SEO, get you a bunch of backlinks or write articles for you.

Mistake #4- Black hat SEO techniques. These stuff have been coined in the early internet marketing days. Back then they were useful, now they have been shunned by Google and anyone caught using it will be severely punished and be banned from being found on the search engines.

Mistake #5 –No social interactions. The world is interconnected now, and the almighty Google recognizes this by now rewarding people who include social interactions into the mix. Get people to connect with you via blog commenting, social sharing and other stuff if you want good SEO.

Mistake #6 – Too little content. Typically, you need at least 100 blog posts before your website can be found on Google significantly. If you lack the content, it’s time to get your mojo on.

Hope these SEO mistakes helps you.

WordPress Tutorial – How to Upload & Link to a PDF, Microsoft Word doc, or other doc

This beginner-level WordPress tutorial is an update of the existing tutorial on http://mcbuzz.wordpress.com and YouTube called "WordPress Tutorial – How to Upload and Link to a PDF, Microsoft Word Document, Excel, PowerPoint or Other Doc Using WordPress". That tutorial was done using an earlier version of WordPress. This tutorial uses WordPress 2.7.

This tutorial shows three things:
1) How to upload a PDF, Microsoft Word doc, PowerPoint, Excel or other Office-type document using WordPress 2.7.
2) How to insert a link to that document into a WordPress post or page. (Visitors to your site can click on the link to download or view the document.), and
3) that there are two things called "Media Library" in the WordPress 2.7 Dashboard, one of which has more information about the files in the Library than the other does. It's helpful to see how you get to each of these Media Libraries because you can find the URL link for a file in only one of them, which can be confusing!

viel Glück beim erstellen deiner WordPress Website / Homepage Installation!

Danke für das schauen dieses Tutorials auf Deutsch:)
